The most important aspect of your training is a GOOD plan (got you covered), other than that there are many other motivating factors that have been tried and true and consistent parts of my training over the last 8-10 years. To take a cue from Oprah, here is my “FAVORITE THINGS/FITNESS VERSION” list. Products are linked (no affiliation) I would love to hear what products have been helpful to you.
- RockMyRun App – In 2012 when I was competing in a Fitness America show my choreographer turned me on to the RockmyRun App, since then I have turned many of my clients and instructor friends onto it. I use it for most of my group fitness classes and my own training. A major music game changer! Preset mixes that fit any mood, vibe, workout type, genre, intensity, and length. A few of favorite mixes on the app are: “Infinite Energy” and “Rock of Ages”! The BEST.
- Vega Pre Workout Energizer and Recovery for post workout. Full transparency this quarantine has me fluffier than normal…which I am ok with….as we are more than our bodies….but I am also GREAT with having goals if it comes from a place of health. So I am being a bit more structured with my nutrition and at times need a lift before an intense workout. I LOVE VEGA pre workout. That baby got me through 5 Reach the Beach Relays and multiple 1/2 marathon trainings. Real vegan ingredients and no chemicals or fakeness. Just do not get dependent on it. Use when you really feel unmotivated or for particularly long workouts. DO not mix with a full glass of water as stated, DO a SHOT. 1-2 ounces of warm water and shoot it 20 minutes before a long workout.
- Lululemon Hotty Hot Shorts, coveting that carnation red color!! Roomy in the legs for us thick legged ladies, and elastic fitted waist so that they do not ride down. Great colors and patterns. Show your legs off ladies!
- Interval app – A must when you want to be “IN” your intervals and not counting reps. My favorite is called “Interval Timer” a bit of a bummer that they started running ads…if you have one without ads you like, let me know.
- Perform Better bands and GymBandit booty bands. The Perform Better Bands are a great all around functional tool. Allowing resistence on the positive and negative range of movement in all planes of movement. They have a nylon center to resist breakage. They are a must with SLIF training. The GymBandits are the most rugged and resistant booty bands that I have found. Do not waste your money or workout time on the thin ones.
- The Well-Fed Women Podcast. Sometimes I am in the mood for a long walk or easy cardio session (benefit being mental wellbeing), and music is just too much. I LOVE this podcast. Noelle Tarr, Stefani Ruper and guests are informative, educated, and entertaining.
